Mississippi Discovered

The image "Mississippi Discovered" from our American Photos Gallery (HiVu #2287) is probably factory produced from a painting of the same name or taken by Canon Spencer from the original. The coloring by hand was a challenging and exacting task. Young women and boys were employed to do this. These slides were in high demand.

Hundred Native Images

This web site also contains one hundred Native images, mainly from Canada, but some like "Sitting Bull," his family and encampment, and "General Custer" are from the United States. For a complete text listing of more than twenty-three hundred slides, please view ouralphabetical archival listing.
