Life and Power 75
Christ died under his own ability and authority and had power to take up his life again. "For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again; this charge I have received from the Father."1 "According to the working of his great might which he accomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead."2
The worst sin is specified as blasphemy against the Holy One. John the Baptist became "strong in the Spirit." Christ is filled with the power of God. Christ washes us with the Holy Ghost. The Spirit brought power to Christ's life. Christ was an offering to God. The Holy One brings obedience, submission, faith, trust, zeal and life. All that is necessary for the work of a Christian. In death, Christ was protected by the Holy Spirit of God.
