Christians Immeasurable Power 75

Jesus Witnesses

Jesus casts out demonsThe Holy Spirit is given in immeasurable quantity to Christ as described by John 3.34, "For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God [Greek "he"] gives the Spirit without limit." Jesus claims in Luke 4.18-19, that the power to do wonderful miracles and to make a public witness of the coming of God's kingdom is given to him by the Holy Spirit also. He said, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Jesus is indeed electrified by the Holy Spirit and the power of God emanates from him.✞

Man receives a BlessingThe Holy Spirit is also given to Jesus followers to witness according to the promises made in Romans 15.8 to the Jewish People and to bring in the Gentile nations, "For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews [Greek "circumcision"] on behalf of God's truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed."

In the Power of God

Spirit pouring down on JesusMiracles were performed in the power of God by Jesus witnesses in Acts 2.22 just as Jesus himself did, "Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know." Jesus' statement in Matthew 12.28 claims that it is by the Spirit that he casts out demons, "But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."
