The Holy Spirit comes on two men in Moses' Camp for the special purpose of prophecy. Though this prophecy appeared to challenge Moses' spiritual leadership, he gladly encouraged it. Moses encourages their prophecy as from the Lord. "Now two men remained in the camp... and the spirit rested upon them... and so they prophesied in the camp."1
The prophet Balaam had been personally intent on cursing Israel, but when the Spirit came upon him, he uttered a prophecy and blessed them instead. "And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and saw Israel encamping tribe by tribe. And the spirit of God came upon him, and he took up his discourse and said, 'the oracle...'"2 Saul, at a later time, came under the influence of the Holy Spirit to prophecy in such a way that he would be turned into another man. "Then the spirit of the Lord will come mightily upon you, and you shall prophecy with them and be turned into another man."3 It appears that the presence of the Holy Spirit in Saul made him act like a completely different person and to prophecy.
