3A. Prophecy in the Judges blue flower

Prophet Balaam

The Holy Spirit comes on the two men for a special purpose to prophecy. Moses encourages their prophecy as from the Lord. "Now two men remained in the camp... and the spirit rested upon them... and so they prophesied in the camp." (1). "And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and saw Israel encamping tribe by tribe. And the spirit of God came upon him, and he took up his discourse and said, 'the oracle...'"(2). Balaam had been intent on cursing Israel, but the Spirit came upon him and he blessed them instead.

Prophet Moses

Saul was to prophecy under the influence of the Holy Spirit in such a way that he would be turned into another man. "Then the spirit of the Lord will come mightily upon you, and you shall prophecy with them and be turned into another man."(3). Zechariah is effected in a similar way in 2 Chronicles 24.20 David gives an oracle when the Holy Spirit is upon him. "The Spirit of the Lord speaks by me, his word is upon my tongue."(4). God speaks to the people through the prophet and God's words are on his lips.

The Holy Spirit makes People Holy

"God makes a covenant with his people and separates them from the world as his own possession, and vouches himself for this covenant. "Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy." (5) (6).

Wycliffe

We often call the Holy Spirit the Comforter. The word goes back to Wycliffe, coming from the Latin word "fortis" which means "brave." The Comforter is therefore someone who instils courage in another. When we consider the infinite holiness of God it causes us to tremble. J. S. Whale talks about running around the burning bush taking photographs from suitable angles instead of taking off our shoes from our feet because the place whereon we stand is holy ground.

"The centuries go gliding, But still we have abiding, With us that Spirit holy, To make us brave and lowly." (7)

Conclusions.

Dove and FireGod speaks directly through humans after they have been given the Holy Spirit. The Temple dimensions were dictated by the Spirit.
