In the opening of John's Gospel, the writer clearly acknowledges Jesus as the creator at the beginning of time with the Holy Spirit and the Father. Here Jesus is called "the Word.""In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."3 Jesus is the Creator God.
His age and origins was questioned by the ordinary folk from his home town of Nazareth. "You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"4 This sounded innocent enough, until one realizes that to the Jew it was blasphemy for Jesus to call himself God. Why is it hard to see Jesus as the co-creator?
