Forgiven Little

Jesus Heals the Paralytic ManIn Mark 2.1-12, a group of men brought to Jesus a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw the faith of this little group, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, " "Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "“Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk?' But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.'" he said to the paralytic, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home."

Forgiveness and Love

Forgiven WomanOn another occasion, Jesus forgave the sins of a woman and healed her. His words to the company were again surprising, " Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven — as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little." Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." The other guests began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" In a final moment, Jesus continued to the woman in Luke 7.47-50, "Your faith has saved you, go in peace."

Rebuking the Elements

ship in stormOn yet another occasion, as recorded in Mark 4.39-41, Jesus and the disciples were out in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples were afraid of the storm and woke up Jesus. Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" They are terrified and ask each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"
