Pray Come Lord
(Revelation 22.19-21)

"And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. He who testifies to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon.' Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen." (Revelation 22.19-21)

Coming Soon

Jesus with the AngelsRevelation is, above all, a book of hope. It shows that no matter what happens on earth, God is in control. It promises that evil will not last forever. And it depicts the wonderful rewards that are waiting those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. "Pray Come Lord Jesus" is a liturgical refrain, similar to the Aramaic expression "Maranatha" or "Our Lord, come!" It is a prayer for the coming of Christ in glory. The Episcopal Book of Common Prayer 1979 had a similar refrain at Easter, "Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again." This is our prayer today!
