"They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings — and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers." (Revelation 17.14)

Faithful Followers

Lamb of GodThe Wisdom of Solomon 3.5-8 said of the persecuted for their faith, "Having borne a little chastening, they shall receive great good, because God made trial of them and found them worthy of himself." "As gold in the furnace he proved them, and as a whole burnt offering he accepted them. And in the time of their visitation they shall shine forth, and as sparks among the stubble they shall run to and fro. They shall judge nations and have dominion over people." There was no doubt that this belief was in the minds of the Apostles James and John in Matthew 20.20-21 "Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him. 'What is it you want?' he asked. She said, 'Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.'" Also in Mark 10.35-37 we read, "Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. 'Teacher,' they said, 'we want you to do for us whatever we ask.' 'What do you want me to do for you?' he asked. They replied, 'Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.'" James and John came and asked Jesus for the best and most influential places on his right and his left when he entered into his kingdom. They wanted to be number two and three in authority! Many leaders today, even in the church, strive thus to be in control.
