Second Blood Angel
(Revelation 16.3-4)
Page 222

"The second blood angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died. The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood." (Revelation 16.3-4)✞

Every Living Thing Died

TerrorsThe terrors which followed the sounding of the seven trumpets may set out. There was the coming of hail, fire and blood, a third of the trees and the green grass wither. See Revelation 8.7-12 for details. Flaming mountains were cast into the sea and a third of the sea became blood. The star or angel called Wormwood fell into the waters, to make them become bitter and poisonous. "Wormwood" was mentioned seven times in the Hebrew Bible meaning a "curse" associated with "bitterness." Wormwood was only described in the Book of Revelation 8.10-11, "The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water — the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter." It was possible that the name "Wormwood" refered to an important person or just to a celestial event. One third of the sun and the moon and the stars were struck and all was darkened. A star (possibly an angel) cames to unlock the abyss, from which arises smoke and demonic locusts in Revelation 9.1-21. The four angels were loosed in the Euphrates and the demons came from the east. An announcement was made about the final victory of God and of the rebellious anger of the nations in Revelation 11.15. the terrors of Revelation 16 were set out. Everybody broke out in ulcerous sores. The sea became like blood and the rivers and fountains flowed red. The sun became scorching hot. Darkness fell over the kingdom of the beast, and its agony. The Euphrates dried up to open a way for the hordes of the kings of the east. The air was polluted and the accompanying terrors in nature, the thunder, the earthquake, the lightning and the hail appeared.✞
