(Revelation 1.1b-3)
Page 18

"He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw, that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." (Revelation 1.1b-3)✞

Jesus Christ Blessed

I'm BlessedTo read Revelation words is to be "Blessed," which means "to be made holy or consecrated." "The Blessed" are defined as "those who live with God in heaven." This verse in Revelation 21.1b-3 is the first of seven blessings in Revelation which are "beatitude like" or as Robert Schuller (1926-2015) the pastor, author and evangelist called them, "the be-happy attitudes." The blessings of Revelation are also reminiscent of Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount" of Olives which begin, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." They are also a reminder of the old Celtic Benediction, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless his holy name." Blessed are they who read these words. Here are the seven Revelation blessings.✞
