"And they sang a new song, saying: 'You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.'" (Revelation 5.9-10)

From Every Tribe

Multitude of People"They will reign on the earth" may be translated as "they reign on the earth." It is as if the reign has begun. Jesus Christ's death was universal in its benefits. It was for everyone, men, women and children "from every tribe and language and people and nation." There was a day when the Jews could argue that God cared only for them as the chosen people and desired the destruction of other non-Jewish peoples. But in Jesus Christ we met a God who loved all the world. Jesus's death was for everyone and, therefore, it was the task of the Church to tell everyone about it.

Kingdom and Priests

Jesus in gloryWe were told that God had made us a "kingdom and priests to serve our God." He opened to Christians the privilege of being the royal children of God. We have always been sons and daughters of God in creation, but now there was a new relationship as heirs of grace open to everyone who believes.
