Rainbow (4.2,3)

"At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne."(Revelation 4.2-3)

carnelian As if to further emphasize the other worldliness of the scene, John sees a Heaven's emerald rainbow behind and over the throne of God. The opulence of these glistening jewels would only emphasize the magnificence of Heaven's emerald rainbow before his eyes. John shows us Heaven's emerald rainbow before bringing us down to earth so that we will not be frightened by future events. The world is not spinning out of control but the God of all creation is carrying out all his plans.
