Christ's Death 153
For the Christian believer death is robbed of its sting. The writer of Hebrews speaks of Jesus "by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death- that is, the devil- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death."1 Therefore Christ's death has destroyed the power of death over the believer and taken the fear of death from us too. Satan can no longer inflict death with all its terror upon us. "Our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel."2
How do you picture Jesus in your mind's eye? Do you view him as the baby in a manger, the cosmic Christ, or Christ's Death?
