Over a Christian's lifespan, we see a new way emerging. Human beings are tinged by the Fall at the Creation. In Genesis 3.23 we read, "So the Lord God banished him (Adam) from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life." The phrase, "on the east side" may also be translated "placed in front."
Humankind is born tinged by the sin of Adam but can move forward to a spiritual decision point when Jesus is invited in to fill that person! A Christian's supernatural nature unfolds beginning with their personal commitment. Saint Paul wrote of the Mystical Body of Christ within himself in Galatians 2.20, "I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." As the physical body deteriorated, so the inner spiritual nature blossoms. In 2 Corinthians 4.16, Saint Paul further explained, "Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.✞
Jesus' indwelling automatically transplants a Christian into the Mystical Body of Christ. Transplantation is one piece of the radical definition of "Christian." "Christian" is an essential part of the meaning of the "Body of Christ." Paul interprets this for us in 2 Corinthians 5.17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come!"✞
